MANAGEMENT OF DENTAL PATIENTS WITH BLEEDING ISSUES

HDP Member dentists and dental staff are invited to join us for a relaxed, informal evening with a verifiable CPD update. There will be a buffet, soft drinks, and BYOB with corkage included, so you are welcome to bring along an alcoholic beverage of your choice.

Learning Outcomes - at the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Signpost current guidance regarding management of patients with bleeding issues.
  • Explain how bleeding issues can impact on management by using case examples.
  • Review various medications, including novel anticoagulants, and common conditions which can cause bleeding and impact on dental treatment, and understand the precautions that should be taken.
  • Understand when and how to refer a patient with bleeding issues due to medication and underlying conditions.

 

Development Outcomes - this CPD course meets the criteria for the GDCs development outcomes A and C.

 

About the speaker:

Helen Devennie qualified from Glasgow Dental Hospital in 1986 and has worked in Oral Surgery Departments and PDS Special Care since then. Helen is on the GDC Specialist lists for both Oral Surgery and Special Care Dentistry and currently practices as a Specialist Practitioner in Primary Care Oral Surgery and Medically Compromised patients.
