A full day course aimed primarily at dentists but open to all members of the dental team.

Aims & Objectives

To allow participants to comply with the IR(ME)R 2018 and IRR 2017 Regulations with regards to radiation protection, relevant legislation and recent advances in dental radiography, so that they comply with their GDC requirements.

Learning Outcomes

  • Have a clear understanding of their obligations under current legislation.
  • Be up to date with any developments in dental radiography.
  • Be able to diagnose and identify common findings on dental radiographs
  • Understand how the dose of radiation can be minimised by goods radiographic techniques and the use of Selection Criteria.

These should link to the Standards for the Dental Team through Development Outcomes A, C and D

ELIZABETH CONNOR

Called Liz by most of her colleagues, she is a Consultant in Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology at Dundee Dental Hospital, NHS Tayside.

She has been there for many years, providing a clinical service and teaching both the undergraduate and postgraduate students within the Dental School. She also provides radiology advice for the local dental practitioners.

Liz was due to retire in 2017 but due to the shortage of DMF consultant radiologists, particularly in Scotland, she is still working part time.
